10/27/1605Akbar (Abul-Fath Djalal-ud-Din), Mughal emperor of India (1556-1605), passed away of diarrhea or dysentery at the age of 63 years. After his death his body was buried at a mausoleum in Sikandra, Agra.

11/6/1997Sher Shah Sur died. He was fatally wounded in an explosion on Kalanjara fort while preparing for an attack. He introduced the new silver rupee-coin ""Rupiya"" based on ratio of 40 copper coin pieces (paisa) per rupee and built several roads including the longest road of India known as Grand Trunk Road (now Natioinal Highway-2).

10/30/1947The first Spitfires from the Advanced Flying School at Ambala reached Srinagar and were soon engaged in strafing the raiders beyond Pattan. Within a week, the Tempests of No. 7 Squadron were playing a decisive role in the battle of Shelatang which halted the forward momentum of the insurgents.
