Historical Event on 10/30/1947

The first Spitfires from the Advanced Flying School at Ambala reached Srinagar and were soon engaged in strafing the raiders beyond Pattan. Within a week, the Tempests of No. 7 Squadron were playing a decisive role in the battle of Shelatang which halted the forward momentum of the insurgents.

8/16/1886Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa dies at the age of 50. His real name was Gadadhar Ghatterji. An Indian mystic, leader and saint, he preached unity of religions. Swami Vivekanand was his disciple.

1/22/1666Shahjahan (Sjihab Al-Din Sultan C Shah D Jahan), great Mughal emperor, died at the Agra fort as a prisoner, to rest besides Mumtaz in Taj Mahal. Jahanara arranged that Sahjahan be laid.
