Historical Event on 7/1/1856

In south, the first line was opened by the Madras Railway Company. It ran between Veyasarpandy and Walajah Road (Arcot), a distance of 63 miles.

3/30/1949New Union of Greater Rajasthan was ceremonially inaugurated by Patel when the existing Union of Rajasthan was joined by four premier states of Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Hiralal Shastri became its first Chief Minister.
10/10/1952US mediator Frank Graham told the U.N. Security Council that there was a possibility of war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir.
5/3/1764Mir Kasim, with the backing of Delhi Emperor, attacked on Patna but this weak Emperor was defeated by Britishers. Britishers became the rulers of Bengal, the richest province of India.
8/2/1763British troops once again defeated Mir Kasim in 'Giriya' battle.
7/22/1999J. H. Patel, Karnataka Chief Minister, recommends dissolution of the Assembly and the Governor Khurshid Alam Khan accepts it. Earlier Mr. Patel drops eight Ministers including the Deputy Chief Minister Siddharamiah.
