Columbia and its crew of six, including India-born Kalpana Chawla, swooped through a clear chilly sky and landed on runway at Kennedy Space Centre. Astronauts save runaway $10-million satellite by catching it with their hands.

7/14/1942	Sultan Mehmud of Ghazni began his first real expedition to India by defeating the Hindu King Jaipal. He won Afghanisthan and Punjab in Peshawar battle. This was the first major Muslim conquest in India.
