8/25/1917The first significant step towards the Indianization of the Army was initiated when seven selected Indians, serving in the Army, were granted King's Commission in the Infantry and the Cavalry. Before the World War ended, two more Indians, who previously held temporary commissions, were granted King's Commission.
11/1/1967Old Punjab, after first partition in 1947, was again seperated into two new states of Punjab and Haryana on linguistic basis, and Chandigarh became a Union Territory.

He was known for his patriotism and zeal for constructive work and was a forceful and emotional orator and debater and an eminent writer in Assamese litrature. He was also a musician and composed good number of patriotic poems and songs.
1/23/1977Janata Party was formed. Congress Sangathan, Jansangh, Bhartiya Lokdal and Samajwadi Party decided to merge and create Janata Party.
