New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) The Delhi government on Wednesday directed all its departments to cut their expenses drastically, except paying salaries to the employees.

The directive was issued by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who said any expenditure other than related to coronavirus or the lockdown should be allowed only after the approval of the finance department.

"All government departments of Delhi have been instructed to stop all expenses, except salary. Any expenditure other than corona and lockdown expenses will be incurred only after the permission of the finance department. Given the current state of revenue, the government will have to cut its expenses drastically," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

The Delhi government has earlier accused the Central government of not giving any funds to the city, even when huge funds were allocated to numerous states across the county to deal with the coronavirus crisis.
