Hi, Ive been in the Greater Seattle Area all my life but have never had the luxury to befriend Indians. My parents were born in Delhi but I was born here. I want to connect more with my culture but because I was born here, other Indians dont think I am Indian so I dont fit in. Im 22 years old female, work at Microsoft and thoroughly enjoy Bollywood. I understand hindi/urdu but I cant speak it fluently (I can speak but not 100% grammatically correct). I just want to connect with the culture because I miss the traditions and Indian community. Thanks in advance.
Hi Renae, I totally know what you mean! I too was born in the USA and have always had a really hard time connecting with other Indians in the area. I am 29 and I feel that especially when I was going to school 7 years prior to you, there were very few Indian people in my class and those that were in my class were usually recently moved from India and not someone I was able to connect with either! Stuck in the middle of two worlds and not really accepted in either. I also have no accent and although can speak and understand hindi which my mom still speak to me in, my response has always been in English and my grammar sucks as well..haha. Anyways, id love to connect with you. I too live in the South Seattle area. feel free to hit me up on facebook. facebook.com/mehtapri9
