12/11/1988Dr. Nagendra Singh, 74, President of the International Court of Justice, passed away in Hague.
8/13/1928Nationalists issue a draft constitution calling for dominion status and a two-chamber parliament.
12/20/1931Leela Nag (Leela Roy), freedom fighter and editor of Jayshri, was arrested in Bengal for her association with ""Depali Sangh"" who supported Chatgang Ammunition Plot against the Bengal Government.
1/14/1761The third and last battle of Panipat, fought between the Marathas and the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abadli, started. The Marathas lost 28,000 soldiers and were virtually routed in North India thus ending the Maratha hegemony.
9/16/1996J & K second phase poll for 34 seats.
11/17/1932The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.

9/7/2000The Election Commission de-recognises the Lok Shakti, headed by former Union Minister Ramakrishna Hegde, as a state party on the basis of its performance in the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in 1999.
