| 4/30/1908 | Khudiram Bose along with Prafulla Chaki had planned to throw a bomb at a carriage supposed to be carrying the tyrannical magistrate Kingsford. Unfortunately he was betrayed and was caught and finally was sentenced to death. |

| 10/1/1932 | Indian Milatary Academy became functional with Brigadier LP Collins, DSO, OBE as the Commandant. The first course of 40 GCs had on its rolls Sam Manekshaw, Smith Dun and Mohd Musa, later to be Chiefs of the armies of their respective countries, i.e. India, Burma (now Myanmar) and Pakistan. This training was for a period of two and a half years. |

| 3/18/1922 | Mohandas K. Gandhi ""Mahatma,"" the great spirit, sentenced by British authorities to six years in prison for sedition at Sabarmati. Gandhi was sentenced just eight days after he was arrested. The British acted hastily after government officials in London and India were criticized for not arresting him sooner. In London, the Secretary of State for India was forced to resign because of the controversy over Gandhi. In India, the arrests of Gandhi and other Indian nationalists had only increased sympathy for their cause. |
